About the Designer
Echo Park Pottery is affiliated with artist Peter Shire, one of the founders of the Memphis-Milano movement of the 1980's. Shire created most of the ceramics of the movement, and worked with artist Nathalie Du Pasquier amongst others. Shire only opens his studio twice each year, and sells his work exclusively with Third Drawer Down in Australia. These hand dipped mugs use Shire's bold shapes and form, and his striking contrast of colours. The shape is reminiscent of the Memphis movement.
