Yayoi Kusama by Laura Hoptman is the first monograph on the 40-year career of this distinguished and innovative artist. The book offers a comprehensive overview of Kusama’s visionary work as an artist, writer, fashion designer and film-maker. Since taking the New York art world by storm in the late 1950s, Kusama has pursued themes of infinite repetition, self-image and sexuality in her distinctive and highly-evocative work.
As a pioneer of installation art, we have seen Kusama compulsively cover all surfaces in dots and repeated patterns or forms, as well as working with painting, collage and assemblage mediums to create her memorable pieces.
