About the artist Celebrated contemporary artist Jeffrey Gibson has received notoriety for his multi-faceted practice incorporating painting, performance, sculpture, textiles and video. With his blend of confrontation and pageantry, the artist's work fuses his Choctaw-Cherokee heritage and experience of living in Europe, Asia and the USA with references that span club culture, queer theory, fashion, politics, literature and art history. Gibson represented the United States at the 2024 Venice Biennale, making him the first Indigenous artist to represent the United States with a solo presentation.
