Women's History Month is a big deal for us, not just because we collaborate with so many talented female artists and makers but also because we are a team of strong, dedicated women and feminist men ourselves - and we believe (and not just in a wear it on a t-shirt way) that the future is female. This year the theme for Women's History Month is "Nevertheless, she persisted" celebrating women who have persevered despite discrimination. We hope this line-up of collectables and hand-made creations inspires you and brings warmth to your heart - everything was created by passionate women whether it be a silk scarf featuring artwork from one of the founders of feminist art Judy Chicago or a bold vase by Melbourne maker Katie Jacobs. Plus some of our favourite reads on women's history in the art world and beyond.
Third Drawer Down strives to continue collaborating with local and international female artists, with our current catalogue possessing over 50% woman artists - and more to be announced in 2018. We thrive off the work of female artists making noise about inequality, challenging the stereotype and creating a conversation we are proud to be a part of.
