A Celebration of Yayoi Kusama
Yayoi Kusama, princess of polka dots, avant-garde goddess, dreamer, creator, feminist and currently unstoppable. We are busy preparing for ongoing pangs of jealousy over here as the Japanese artist takes over social media feeds worldwide with her Infinity Mirrors exhibition opening in the US. How we wish we could immerse ourselves in her "buzzy" infinity rooms and how we encourage anyone who can get to a Yayoi retrospective to do so.
Yayoi Kusama is set for a massive year of shows from Tokyo to Finland and even here in Melbourne, at the National Gallery of Victoria's just announced triennial in December.
We thought it was the perfect time to share some of our favourite photos of Yayoi Kusama as well as focus on our collaboration with the artist, from her 2012 Whitney Retrospective, on what also happens to be the Japanese artists 88th birthday.
"My life is a dot lost among thousands of other dots."-Yayoi Kusama
