| James Gallagher uses collage to investigate human form and personal identity. Piecing together images cut from found material– old books, National Geographic, and the occasional sex manual– Gallagher creates figures that reach out to touch each other or stand in sullen stillness. He likes that the featureless imagery in his work allows the viewer to project his/her meaning into his scenes. Gallagher lives in Brooklyn, New York. His collaged images have been shown in galleries all over the world and seen in magazines, newspapers and books. Gallagher has produced work for Arkitip, J&L Books, Tylenol, nerve.com, The New York Times and Virgin Mobile. His art has also been featured in American Illustration, Communication Arts, Society of Publication Designers, and Die Gestallen Publications. |
