About 10 years ago it dawned on me that i enjoyed the world of interiors more than art magazines ...

I enjoyed the way a painting looked against a sideboard & gave this considerable thought - more thought than I gave the conceptual content of my work ...

Not saying there is no concept behind my pieces - the children in my paintings are often pondering , earnest & at times very  purposefull as i feel those energies lead to discoveries that make life meaningful & yet are not valued as much these days  -  my own childhood was difficult & I was lost - I feel over time I've discovered my purpose of painting and being creative & hopefully look at the world through the freshness & wonder of a childs eye -

I have endeavored to become as interested in the world around me as the children in my paintings - & in doing so wish that i had taken more interest years ago - if I had my time again I'd have shown more interest in furniture , objects , interiors , architecture  & the list is endless - but this series depicts a boy at one with domestic objects , more introspective as opposed to a more typical environment for a boy - say being more physical ...

also like the characters I paint - I do believe in being purposeful & aspire to Noel Cowards theory that "work is more fun than fun " - I paint most days & nights & have done for over 20 years now ...
